| Have all adults available at the session wear a long-sleeved black shirt. Whether or not they want to "be" in the picture, it's nice to have portraits of newborns in their daddy's arms (same goes for grandparents, too).
Have towels and burp cloths ready. You just never know what is going to happen when the diapers come off! (Don't worry about the backdrops. Accidents happen every time. It's inevitable!)
Dress the baby in loose fitting clothing a few hours before the sitting to avoid creases in their sensitive skin prior to the session. Diaper covers, socks, and jeans have extra special potential to ruin naked shots.
A diaper cover over a diaper is a great outfit especially for girls.
Plan on feeding them as I'm setting up especially if this puts them to sleep. Newborns are much more cooperative when they're sleeping. Set up takes 10 - 15 minutes.
